Lisa has over 10 years experience in competing in Heelwork to Music and 5 years experience in judging.

This gives a wide range of knowledge not only in the application of teaching elements, but in the full aspect of the competition environment, including what judges are looking for from a routine.

The ring experience that Lisa has creates happy enthusiastic dogs with a flare for their routines and a joy for working together as a team, through this a strong relationship is created and built upon.

You don’t need to have the desire to compete in heelwork to music competitions to join a class, this is a great activity to do just for fun and build a great bond with your dog!

What is Heelwork to Music?

Heelwork to Music is derived originally from the set exercises forming the heelwork component of competitive Obedience, with a musical backing, but it quickly grew into a much more demanding and creative discipline. 8 different Heelwork positions can be used in total, moving in different directions.

Then came the introduction of Freestyle – routines interpreting the music in which the dog can perform a wider variety of moves, at a greater distance from the handler.

Both disciplines have grown tremendously in popularity, and contrary to popular belief, you do not have to be able to dance to take part!

Heelwork to Music has a wide range of benefits, from a creative, fun environment where pet owners develop a bond with their dogs, through to opportunities for more competitive training and competition.

As with all sports, there must be training to get results. We train in a group class of varying levels, from beginners to competitors where ideas can be shared and new skills learnt from each other.

We also share cake and tea, an important part of HTM training!

Heelwork to Music is accessible to any breed of dog, the moves and routines are tailored to suit each dog and handler.
