I have been around dogs from a very early age, and been involved in the training of friends and families dogs while growing up.
I have four dogs of my own; a Springer Spaniel, German Shorthaired Pointer, Flatcoated Retriever and a Working Cocker Spaniel. I have had them all since they were puppies and have trained since day one arriving home. The three older dogs have their Kennel Club Good Citizen Awards up to Gold Level, and the youngest is just about to try to equal their success!
We compete in Heelwork to Music at Advanced level, and having previously competed in Freestyle to Intermediate level we have recently returned with a new recruit in the Novice class.
We also find time to train in gundog exercises, which we really enjoy, but they also come in useful when we work on the local shoot during the shooting season.
Although we enjoy our competitions, workshops, tricks and advanced training, the most important skill is ‘daily life’, which includes settling nicely in a pub, we like to practice that!
We took part in our sixth year on the Heelwork to Music demonstration team at Crufts this year. Performing two demonstrations per day as part of a team and also a solo routine. We were also part of the Main Arena Team, performing live on the Crufts channel!
