Scent detection is an activity which suits pretty much every dog. The act of searching and using olfactory senses can build confidence for dogs who are anxious, gives young or older dogs an alternative outlet to physical exercise, and create a great bonding exercise for dogs and owners of any age.
Our workshops are also suitable for reactive dogs as dogs are worked in individual sessions.
Kat has spent two years as a trainer and instructor for Scent Imprint for Dogs in the Netherlands where she trained detection dogs in multiple disciplines, taught classes and delivered instructor courses.
In the UK she has worked for a private company on a project with explosive detection dogs.
Currently she runs her own company K9 Behaviour Consultancy for private detection dog training, and Canine Detection Solutions, providing Japanese Knotweed detection dogs, of which there are only a few in the UK.
Dogs and handlers will work singularly with Kat for intense, quality learning. We estimate dogs will get 3 working sessions throughout the day, with rest in-between (scent work is tiring!)

Gundog Winter Workshops
Gundog Winter Workshops
With outdoor classes finished for the winter months, the workshops are a great way to keep in touch with training and also work on specific behaviours more intricately, and fix some problems
We also look at the human element of training, helping owners to understand more specifically about their timing when using a clicker as part of positive reinforcement training. If we aren’t providing the correct feedback while teaching our dogs, then we cannot expect to end with the correct behaviour.
Discussions about rewards vs reinforcers, emotions influencing training, how life skills are important to consider as a first port of call and how gundog specific exercises can compliment everyday life are also part of the workshops.
Priority given to current class members as a continuum from gundog classes, other places sometimes available.
Dogs are worked together within the workshops.
